Attachment in a New Tab: User Guide
Before migration to Forge
To open Jira attachments in new tab, the Secure Attachment Transfer plugin does not need any configuration. Immediately after installation, in Jira Service Management issue details, a new link “Attachments in New Tab“ will appear in the issue details:
Clicking the link will open the app sidebar with the list of all the attachments:
Clicking a specific attachment will open the file in a new tab:
If the file is newly uploaded, it might not be immediately visible in the list. In this case, please click the Refresh button:
After uploading the files, you will need to refresh the browser tab to see the attachments in the list. Only Adobe Acrobat files and images will be opened in a new tab by default. Other file formats will be opened in a new tab if corresponding online viewers are used by the users (e.g. Microsoft Office365 or Google Docs for Office files).
Due to a security measure introduced since Chrome version 88, to open Adobe Acrobat attachments in a new tab, instead of a left mouse click, a middle mouse click or Ctrl+left click should be used.
