How does Cloud pricing for Insight Assets Backup & Migration work?

Insight Assets Backup & Migration is sold as a monthly or annual subscription. You're eligible for support and automatic version updates as long as your subscription is active.

To summarize, if you have 10 users or fewer licensed for your Jira Cloud instance, for you Insight Assets Backup & Migration will be FREE. If you have more than 10 users, you'll be charged per user amount based on the user tier. You can use this Cloud Pricing Calculator provided by Atlassian to easily calculate the cost of apps based on your user tier.

How is annual Cloud pricing calculated?

Annual Cloud pricing is calculated on a tiered basis (just like the monthly per-user Cloud pricing). Note that by choosing an annual subscription, you're automatically granted a discount as you are only charged for 10 months of the year, rather than 12 months if you were to subscribe on a monthly basis.

Can I trial Insight Assets Backup for free before purchasing it?

Once this trial period is over, the cost of the app will automatically be included in your next bill unless manually deactivated via the Manage Apps page under the Jira Administration menu. Should the plugin be also installed on target instances?

Yes, target instances (the instance where you are migrating the schemas from the original Cloud instance), should also have an installed app with an active trial or paid license.

Do I need to pay for the plugin while backing up schemas from Data Center?

To backup schemas on Data Center instance and eventually migrate them to the Cloud, you need to have an active Insight Assets Cloud Migration Assistant app on your Data Center instance. The assistant app is billed separately, according to the pricing and licensing rules of Data Center approved apps (You can read more details on https://www.atlassian.com/licensing/data-center#how-are-dc-apps-priced-licensed). The trial version of the DC app has a limitation of 50 objects to be migrated.
